President and Chief Executive

Legal & General Insurance America

Thomas Olunloyo
Thomas Olunloyo is deputy CEO of Legal & General America’s insurance division, which includes operating companies Banner Life Insurance Company and William Penn Life Insurance Company of New York. He is focused on delivering our growth strategy in the US market.

Thomas transitioned from his role as CEO of Legal & General Reinsurance (L&G Re), which he held for four years. Prior to becoming CEO, he served as Chief Actuary and Chief Investment Officer. During his tenure, Thomas led L&G Re’s development into new markets and new technologies, including the L&G Group’s first Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) transaction in Canada and embracing the use of blockchain and automation for our PRT business.

Thomas has worked in life and pensions insurance all of his career, initially at MetLife in London prior to joining L&G.  There are three goals that have defined his career approach; the necessity of serving a strong social purpose, an entrepreneurial DNA and a passion for using technology to deliver innovative and customer-empowering solutions. In his career, Thomas has been able to pursue all of these goals by working in businesses that provide financial security to millions of policyholders, growing the profitability of the reinsurance business by more than 400% in less than three years as CEO, and launching the world’s first blockchain platform for Pensions Risk Transfer business.

Thomas is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries (2011) and has a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford.
