As part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, Legal & General Personal Investing have partnered with England Korfball.
17 Jun 2019
With similarities to netball and basketball, Korfball is a uniquely mixed-gender sport that brings men and women together as equals, to compete, collaborate and work towards success in a team. Legal & General Personal Investing sponsored the England Korfball Grand Finals 2019 at the Copper Box arena.
The sport is not only gender equal, but encourages young and old, beginners and elite athletes, and all types of players to participate and enjoy the benefits of physical activity and a real community spirit. It’s a fantastic model for inclusion and equal opportunities, and the sense of belonging and fairness that it forges between men and women, boys and girls, shows the benefits of diversity in action.
The sponsorship commenced with the England Korfball Grand Finals at the Copper Box, Olympic Park, on 1-2 June. The event was a fantastic success, with the Legal & General family day selling out in record time.
The finals were shown live on the BBC red button and can be still be watched on BBC iPlayer until 2 July.
Budding korfball players, or those who would like to give korfball a go, are encouraged to attend any one of the numerous workplace tournaments that are taking place in cities around the country, including the London workplace tournament in Battersea Park on 11 July. Beginners are welcome, and coaching will be provided.
