Legal & General Group have announced that they will be removing single-use, disposable plastic consumables from all of their UK offices by the end of 2018.
15 Mar 2018
Single-use plastic cups and cutlery will be replaced either with china cups and glasses or fully recyclable alternatives. The initiative sets to put an end to the use of around 4,000,000 plastic cups that are used by visitors and colleagues each year across their sites in the UK.
Their Head Office in Coleman Street, London has already started to replace the plastic cups from kitchen areas with china cups and glasses. This roll out will continue during 2018 as the kitchen areas are refurbished.
Plastic containers will also be removed from our eating areas and cafés in Coleman Street and Hove in the upcoming months and replaced with recyclable alternatives - saving around 50,000 soup containers per year.
Legal & General Group aim to be free of single-use plastic by the end of 2018 in the UK.
Nigel Wilson, Chief Executive of Legal & General Group As a Group we have a long established commitment to protect and enhance the environment... Plastic is detrimental to the environment and we are committed to removing all single use plastic cups, cutlery and containers by the end of this year.
