L&G appoints Zoe Wimborne as Group Chief Risk Officer
Legal & General Group Plc (“L&G” or “the Group”) today announces the appointment of Zoe Wimborne as Group Chief Risk Officer.

Zoe will join the Group in August and will be responsible for overseeing L&G’s global risk framework, ensuring robust risk management across the business as it continues to drive forward its ambitious growth strategy as a simpler, better-connected business, positioned to win in structurally growing markets. She will report to Group CEO António Simões and will be a member of L&G’s Group Management Committee.
Zoe is an accomplished executive with more than 30 years’ experience in risk management, governance and regulatory programmes, having recently served as Global Head of Credit Risk Review at Citi. Her previous roles at Citi included International Chief Risk Officer and EMEA Regional Chief Risk Officer. Prior to this, Zoe was the Managing Director EMEA Head of Lending and Deputy Head of Credit Risk at Morgan Stanley and Managing Director of Risk at both Citi and Barclays Investment Bank. Zoe was appointed a Non-Executive Director at Cifas, the UK’s leading fraud prevention service in 2020.
António Simões, Group Chief Executive Officer of L&G, said: “I’m delighted Zoe is joining L&G. Risk management sits at the heart of what we do, and she brings an outstanding track record leading risk in complex, highly regulated businesses. Her experience will make a real difference as a key part of my leadership team that will take L&G forward to execute the next phase of our strategy and deliver for our customers and shareholders.”
Zoe Wimborne, Group Chief Risk Officer designate, said: “I am delighted to be joining L&G at such an exciting point in its growth journey. The Group has a strong reputation for disciplined risk management and long-term thinking, and I look forward to working with colleagues across the business to deliver on our strategic priorities and to further strengthen resilience in a changing market environment.”
Zoe Wimborne will join L&G in August following the decision by Chris Knight to step down as Group Chief Risk Officer after 17 years with L&G. Chris will be leaving in July to take up a role as Director of Insurance at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
