We’re a long-term investor in housing and places, so helping communities thrive is very important to us. That means more than just developing new homes and services. We also want to boost people’s wellbeing by encouraging active lifestyles, helping them enjoy nature both within and beyond their homes.
That’s why we’re launching our Neighbourhood in Bloom competition, in association with the National Trust’s Sky Gardening Challenge 2026.
We’re encouraging people who live in our housing or work for us to reconnect with nature by growing plants in small or shared spaces. They can be anywhere from gardens, balconies and windowsills to courtyards and community planters.
If you’re one of our residents or employees, it’ll give you:
- simple, practical gardening ideas, tips and tricks from the experts
- opportunities to join gardening activities around the country
- all the wellbeing benefits that come from nurturing and enjoying nature
And of course, there are some excellent prizes too.
What you can win
Two lucky gardeners will be in with a chance of winning a special National Trust award bundle - a must for anyone who loves green spaces and gardening. The bundle includes:
- Free entry to one National Trust property (valid for up to 2 adults and up to 6 children, one visit only, to be redeemed before 29 August 2027, some exclusions apply)
- £100 National Trust voucher, which you can redeem in National Trust cafes and shops (including online), use to pay for entry, or put towards National Trust membership or holiday cottage, bunkhouse, bothy and selected campsite stays

How to enter
All you need to do is get growing in one of our four competition categories:
One pot power – what can you do with just one pot?
Wild about wildlife – create the ultimate pollinator pitstop
Urban farming – grow your own herbs, fruit or vegetables
Sustainable solutions – show off your eco credentials
Then, when you’re ready, share some pictures or videos of your space on your favourite social media channel using the hashtag #NeighbourhoodinBloom2026. To confirm your entry, please fill out this short form.
Those based in the UK will also receive a free National Trust Day pass for entering, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to check before you start planting
If you want to take part, please:
- read the terms and conditions at the bottom of the entry form page, which provide the full entry criteria
- check your lease and get any permissions you need make sure anything you’re planning to install will be safe and secure
- don’t forget that only our residents or employees can enter
