Laura Mason

Chief Executive Officer, Retail

Laura is the Chief Executive Officer of Retail, one of Legal & General’s three divisions. She is also the chair of Legal & General’s Global Diversity and Inclusion council and is a member of the Group Management Committee.

Laura is responsible for leading the Retail division which is a leading provider of UK retail retirement and protection solutions and US term life insurance and seeks to support customers throughout their lifetime and create valuable bundled propositions as the responsibility for retirement savings shifts from employers to individuals.

Laura has group-wide experience with in-depth knowledge of the workings of the Group’s business divisions from her roles as CEO of Private Markets (Asset Management), L&G Capital and L&G Retirement Institutional. Laura was also part of the senior management team responsible for setting up L&G Capital, where she served as Director of Direct Investment and in her initial role in the Annuity business, responsible for the Asset and Liability Management and Investment strategy.

Laura is a qualified actuary and prior to joining L&G, spent eight years at Towers Watson as a consultant to major UK life insurers. Laura has a First Class Honours Degree in Engineering Science from University of Oxford, and a PhD in Engineering Science (Neural Networks and Signal Processing) also from the University of Oxford.
