This breadth of expertise and participation is at the forefront of the energy transition and addresses the need to decarbonise our power, heat and transport systems. Investments led by John and the team include NTR (large scale onshore wind, solar and battery storage); Oxford PV (high efficiency solar power technology innovation); Upside Energy (digital energy controls); Pod Point (electric vehicle charging); and most recently Kensa Group (renewable heating for homes).
John’s role is to grow Legal & General’s presence in clean energy to accelerate progress to net zero emissions in the UK and globally, by creating partnerships with developers, operators and technology businesses. He also works with colleagues in LGIM, LGR and L&G’s property and housing businesses to create zero carbon homes, and contributes to the Group’s overall approach to addressing climate change and sustainability. John is passionate about sustainable development and has dedicated his 20 year career to work on projects and sustainable investments in the water, waste recycling, renewable energy and cleantech sectors.
Prior to joining L&G, he also led a large European renewable energy fund at a leading sustainable global bank based in the Netherlands. He is an experienced Non-Executive Director and works with our investee partners to support their growth and success. John is an independent member of the investment committee of Emmaus UK, a homelessness charity housing c.1000 people across the UK.
